I had a conversation with a young lady this week who recently read my book, "Don't Be Afraid: He's Preparing You!" www.theattractivethinker.guru/thebook She said, "Toni how did you teach your son, Kevin to cook?" My reply: "I placed his hands on everything before it got hot so that he could see the utensils, the burners, the knobs, etc. Then I stood to the side and gave instructions on how to prepare his recipes. (He had a braille recipe book, "The Frugal Gourmet" that he'd rush to the kitchen to use in preparing dinner.) It was very tempting to assist, but I knew assisting would be hurting and robbing him of the experience and discovering his own way of cooking, so I didn't, and he did! Above is a picture of Kevin preparing dinner for 60 people as a graduation requirement for a Youth Independence Program.
